HOUSTON We have been spoiled in recent years, as baseball fans. The World Series has produced a set of compelling, dramatic and even historic competitions. Three of the past five Fall Cla sics 2014, 2016, 2017 have been pushed to the full seven-game limit, and even the ones that ended early 2013, 2015, 2018 were packed with close contests that went down to the wire, often ending in extra innings. And then we have the 2019 World Series, which has been pretty blah in comparison. That, admittedly, feels like a strange Alex Erickson Jersey thing to say for a best-of-seven playoff that has reached its sixth game and could very well be stretched to the limit if the Nationals win tonight (and with Stephen Strasburg on the mound, thats certainly po sible).MORE: Its not that the Astros and Nationals have played contests completely devoid of drama. Theyve just been mostly devoid of drama. Aside from the opener the Nationals built a 5-2 lead and held on for a one-run victory the eighth and ninth innings have lacked any real sort of who will win uncertainty. The seventh inning of Game 2 was, by far, the most stunning moment of the series, when the Nationals scored six runs to take control of the contest and secure their second win in Houston in as many days. But in Washington? Houston was the better team, in every facet. The Astros outscored the Nationals19-3, in Games 3-5. Alex Bregman produced more runs in one swing of the bat with his Game 4 grand slam than the Nationals produced in 27 innings. The most compelling part of those three games was gue sing how the Nationals would manage to squander runners-on-second-and-third scoring opportunities.Would they strike out? Pop out? Ground out? Hit the ball hard right at somebody? They elevated failure to an art form, going 1-for-21 with runners in scoring position in those three games. So here we are, with Game 6 rapidly approaching, waiting for hoping for the type of drama weve seen so often recently in late October. This series does have one unique element, of course: The road team has won every game. Thats fun, but not really compelling. And we mi s compelling, so lets rank the World Series of this decade, A.J. Hawk Jersey by how compelling/dramatic they were to watch.1. 2011 World SeriesWhy its here: Because Game 6 has a special place in World Series history. The Cardinals were twice down to their final strike, and twice came through to extend the game. First, it was David Freeses two-RBI triple in the ninth. Then it was Lance Berkmans RBI single in the 10th.And then, yeah, Freese ended the game with a walk-off solo home run in the 11th. Even the lone blowout in the series the Cardinals 16-7 win in Game 3 featured a three-home run performance by Albert Pujols.2. 2016 World SeriesWhy its here: Two franchises the Cubs and Indians that hadnt won a series in a generation, going to extra Renell Wren Jersey innings in Game 7? How can you beat that? Oh, and the Cubs rallied from a 3-1 series deficit to claim the title by winning the final two games on the road.3. 2017 World SeriesWhy its here: Two extra-inning contests, each of the first six games decided by two runs or fewer. More no way that just happened home runs than any sane person can remember. The only reason its not No. 1 or 2 is because Charlie Morton dominated Game 7, taking the drama out of the end of an amazing series.4. 2014 World SeriesWhy its here: Because Madison Bumgarner was better than any pitcher has ever been in a single World Series (one run allowed in 21 innings), and because we almost saw a game-tying inside-the-park home run by Alex Gordon with two outs in the ninth inning of Game 7. Its lower than the other seven-game series because only two of the contests Games 3 and 7 were decided by fewer than five runs.5. 2018 World SeriesWhy its here: Even though he didnt win the MVP award, David Price wasthe series standout. The lefty castoff his playoff demons and pitched brilliantly in Boston wins in Games 2 and 5. Game 3 lasted 18 innings and more than seven hours after the teams traded runs in the 13th and ended on a Max Muncy walk-off homer. In Game 4, the Red Sox trailed the Dodgers4-0, heading into the seventh inning and wound up winning9-6. This five-game series had everything but length.6. 2013 World SeriesWhy its here: The Cardinals took a 2-1 series lead, but the Red Sox won the next three to wrap up the series in six games. Four of those contests Games 2/3/4/5 were all decided by just one or two runs.7. 2015 World SeriesWhy its here: Game Joe Burrow Jersey 1 set the tone for a series full of late-inning heroics. The Royals tied it in the ninth and won it in the 14th. In Game 4, the Royals scored three in the eight to beat the Mets, 5-3. In Game 5, Matt Harvey was brilliant for eight shutout innings, but faltered in the ninth Mets manager Terry Collins was criticized heavily for bringing him back out as the Royals scored two to send the game to extras. They piled on five in the 12th to clinch the title.8. 2019 World SeriesWhy its here: For all the aforementioned reasons. Could climb as high as No. 5, though, if Games 6 and 7 are particularly compelling. If the Astros win Game 6 like they won Games 3/4/5, it stays here.9. 2012 World SeriesWhy its here: This one started with a surprise the Giants chased Tigers ace Justin Verlander after just four innings, with a pair of homers and five runs in Game 1. And San Francisco Trey Hopkins Jersey produced just enough offense the rest of the way to support a brilliant effort by the pitching staff, finishing the sweep with wins by scores of 2-0, 2-0 and 4-3 (in 10 innings).10. 2010 World SeriesWhy its here: The Giants outscored the Rangers27-8in their four victories, and seven of those eight Texas runs came in Game 1, an 11-7 lo s. Tim Lincecum was brilliant in the Game 5 clincher, striking out 10 and allowing just three hits and a run in eight innings. Oh, and Madison Bumgarner gave us a sneak peak at what was to come in 2012 and 2014, throwing eight shutout innings in his Game 4 win.
